Check Out The First Xiaomi Smartphone That Has A Fingerprint Sensor On The Screen - Teasers
We’ve been seeing rumblings of Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone, which would be a regular development, until a video surfaced on YouTube, teased that the upcoming device — dubbed the Mi 8 — will have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
A small clip of just 3 seconds not only confirms scanner but also reveals the front design. From the look of things, it seems like the device is running on the MIUI 9. Before unlocking the device once the user puts his fingerprint on the display, the scanner lightens up and then unlocks the device in a blink of a second. Also, it is important to mention the scanner speed is way faster than we have seen on the Vivo X-lineup smartphones. At the moment it is still in the dark whether Xiaomi using the in-glass scanner from Goodix or Synaptics. As it is not from an official source that's why we will recommend to take it with a grain of salt.
Apart from in-glass fingerprint scanner the Mi 8 is rumored to be a first Android smartphone with a 3D facial recognition feature similar to Apple iPhone X. Recently an alleged 3D facial scanner module leaked online. The next-gen scanner 3D maps the user face points to identify the user that's why it is way more secure than ordinary scanners. So far only iPhone X has the 3D scanner exclusively. Xiaomi is reported will incorporate this scanner in a notch pretty much similar to the iPhone X.
From what we heard so far the Mi 8 will be running on the Qualcomm's latest Octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB RAM. The base variant will have 64GB native storage. It will support glass rear and wireless charging. A 4,000mAh battery cell will keep its lights on. If the in-glass scanner info is accurate this means the Mi 8 will have OLED display panel as it is must to implement under-glass scanner. The Mi 8 is expected to go official as a direct successor of Mi 6.
