Smartisan R1 - The First Smartphone That Comes With 1 Terabyte Of Storage Space

What are you going to do with a phone that is more powerful than some laptops in terms of storage?
Smartisan , a Chinese company launched its first smartphone, the R1 that costs at N198,000 / KES 55,000 for the 64GB variant. It has specs similar to the OnePlus 6 and a thin-bezel boxy design that is a bit similar to the Essential phone.

But unlike the OnePlus 6 the the phone comes in four variants, the highest storage variant of which has an on-board storage of a staggering 1TB, something that you won't even find on most high-end laptops that use SSDs .

The 8GB+1TB variant of the Smartisan R1 costs N480,000 / KES 134,000. This similar to what  Apple demands for its 256GB iPhone X, but the R1 happens to have four times the on-board storage, whatever you wish to do with it.

The Smartisan R1 is the first smartphone to boast of such ridiculously high storage that, the company believes, along with Snapdragon 845 can give you PC-level computing experience. Like Galaxy S8 or S9 can be plugged on to the Samsung Dex station and use the phone as a PC, Smartisan R1 is compatible with a docking station that can turn it into a computer. Though Smartisan dock comes attached to a touch-enabled 4K display that it calls TNT (Touch and Talk)!

The phone runs Smartisan OS 6.66 based on Android and when docked, converts in to what looks like a macOS-like home screen.

As for the specs, Smartisan R1 comes with 6.17-inch 'pressure-sensitive' display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio and nearly zero bezels at the top and sides. It does have a chin at the bottom but the notch is very similar to that of the Essential phone, housing just the front camera.
The dual camera setup at the back consists of a 20-megapixel IMX 363 and a 12-megapixel IMX350 sensor with 4-axis OIS, dual PDAF and f/1.8 aperture on the main camera lens.
Front camera on the phone has a 24-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 4K recording. Smartisan R1 supports dual SIM 4G, comes with a 3600mAh battery and support for Quick Charge 4.
