Sweary Carrot Weather App Lands on Android
For those of us who do more than just sit at home binge-watching Netflix—as fun as that may be—a good weather app is essential. After all, if it’s going to rain all afternoon you’re unlikely to want to spend the day at the park eating soggy sandwiches.
The problem is that most weather apps are indistinguishable from each other. They all display the weather forecast for your location, and that’s about it. However, Carrot Weather is a little different than most, and the iOS app is now available on Android.
Carrot Likes Shouting at Clouds
Carrot is a weather app with a personality. The titular Carrot being an AI with attitude (and 6,000+ lines of spoken dialog). This marks Carrot out as unique when compared to other weather apps. Especially when you tell Carrot to include profanity.
Carrot obviously provides all of the weather information you’ll ever need. This includes a daily forecast for the week ahead, the current day broken down by hour, and weather warnings. And the forecasts themselves are provided by Dark Sky.
Besides the snarky and sweary AI, which delights in referring to humans as meatbags, Carrot offers a host of customization options, secret locations to find, and quirky animations that reflect the weather at any given moment.
Those willing to pay the $3.99/year asking price can remove the ads, get a customizable widget, add animated satellite maps, and gain access to a time machine showing the weather for anywhere up to 70 years in the past and 10 years into the future.

Carrot Starts to Grate Quickly
Carrot has been available on iOS for some time, but it’s now available in an open beta on Android as well. If I’m honest, the ads are very intrusive and the AI starts to grate very quickly. So I personally prefer the Dark Sky app and its minimalist approach.
If neither Carrot or Dark Sky are for you, there are plenty of alternatives to try. There are these useful weather apps that are fun to check, these fun ways to check the weather every day, and (if you’re old skool) the best weather websites.
