The letter which was personally signed by Adeoti and dated July 21st 2018 read:
“With gratitude to the Almighty God, I hereby wish to notify you of my decision to resign my membership of All Progressives Congress.
“While thanking you and the entire membership of the party for your support while my membership lasted, I wish to reiterate my commitment to the progress of the state in whatever capacity I find myself in the future.”
It will be recalled that the National Secretariat of the party had adopted direct method of primary election which was alleged to have been skewed in favour of the cousin of the National leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, Gboyega Oyetola, who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Consequent upon this development, Adeoti withdrew from the direct primary election on the ground that he has lost confidence in the leadership of the party.
Adeoti is now in Action Democratic Party (ADP) and has been picked as the governorship candidate of the party to contest the September 22nd 2018 gubernatorial election in the state.
