Drake sues former fling over fake pregnancy ,rape claim
Drake is suing a woman named Layla Lace claiming she tried to extort him with phony claims that she was expecting his child, and that he had sexually assaulted her.
The music superstar, 31, listed civil extortion, fraud, defamation and emotional distress in the lawsuit, which came after a string of events that unfolded early last year.
The God’s Plan rapper said in court docs he had first crossed paths with Lace in February 2017 following a gig in Manchester, England on his Boy Meets World Tour, according to TMZ.
The Toronto, Canada native said he and Lace ventured to his hotel and engaged in consensual sex, adding that ‘Layla also voluntarily and seemingly happily performed oral sex’ in the rendezvous.
The rap artist, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, said Layla hoped to go on the road touring with him, and was livid when he sent her home.
Drake, who is being repped by attorney Larry Stein in the suit, said Layla inundated him with text messages that indicated a ‘fantasy relationship’ she harbored mentally for him, frequently claiming she missed him.
Drake said he lacked the ‘time or energy to respond’ to her advances, which further amplified her ire for him.
By April of 2017, Lace wrote on Instagram that she was expecting a child, and had been out of communication with the father of the child.
‘So I guess still in this era this is the new thing that after you tell a dude you pregnant they stop answering they phone!!!’ she wrote.
Drake said in court docs that she threatened to leak text messages they had exchanged, eventually doing so in an appearance on SiriusXM in which she claimed she was pregnant by the rap star.
Drake said in May of 2017, Lace had obtained legal representation in a push to make him pay her money for the child she claimed she was expecting by him.
Drake said Lane’s pregancy claim was a hoax, as she would not take a paternity test he requested and her attorney did not respond to communciations from Drake’s team.
‘There is no credible evidence of pregnancy, nor any baby,’ Drake said in court docs, ‘which would have been born last Fall.’
Drake said that Lane subsequently claimed to law enforcement in New York that Drake had raped her, and with a new lawyer, ventured to hold him up for money in exchange for not making the allegation public.
