Withings introduces a traditional fitness tracker

Withings just broke up with Nokia to become independent again. But the company is already releasing a brand new product. The Withings Pulse HR is a traditional fitness tracker with an OLED display and a Fitbit-like design.

While Withings is better known for its analog watches with some fitness features, the Pulse HR looks more like traditional fitness trackers. It’s a narrow wristband with a tiny black-and-white screen and a single button.

The device has a pretty good battery life as you can expect to charge it every 20 days. As a comparison, traditional Fitbit trackers last 5 to 7 days.

As the name suggests, the Pulse HR features a heart rate sensor. The company wants to offer something a bit more premium than all the cheap fitness trackers you can buy on Amazon. That’s why the casing is made out of stainless steel.

Users can scroll through different screens to see the date and time, your current heart rate, calories you’ve burned today, your daily goals and real time information during an activity. You can also receive smartphone notifications on it.

It works with Withings’ smartphone app so that you can look back at your session once your done. You can also use the Pulse HR to track your sleep and replace your alarm clock with vibration alarms.

This isn’t Withings’ first traditional fitness tracker. The first Withings Pulse from 2013 was a hybrid tracker. You could use it as wrist watch or detach it from the wristband to carry it in your pocket. But Nokia stopped selling it

The Pulse HR will be available on December 5 for $130 and you can pre-order it now.
