Asus Launches The ZenFone Max Pro M1 With A Snapdragon 636 & 5000mAh Battery

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 is the company’s first smartphone to come with stock Android UI. Last year, Xiaomi surprised all of us by launching the Xiaomi Mi A1, an Android One smartphone. Now in 2018, Asus has dropped its own Zen UI in favor of stock UI. With stock Android, the device will be able to get faster Android updates.

The phone comes with a metallic unibody design with a 2.5D curved glass on the front. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 sports a 5.99-inch FullView display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform featuring custom Kryo cores.

Although,  Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first smartphone to use the Snapdragon 636, the Zenfone 5 unveiled at the MWC 2018 also uses the same chipset. The device comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 256GB. On the rear, you  can also find the fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds.

It also supports facial recognition to unlock the device using Face Unlock.

For the camera, there are 13MP and 5MP dual rear cameras with f/2.2 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens.  Asus also mentioned that the device will support portrait mode for capturing photos with bokeh effect. For selfies, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a single 8MP front-facing camera with LED flash. It comes with triple card slot for adding two nano SIM cards along with a MicroSD card.

Keeping the lights on is a huge 5,000mAh non-removable battery that should last up to a single day of heavy usage. However, the device only supports only up to 5V/2A (10W) power input. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device.

The device runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The device comes in Meteor Silver and Deepsea Black color options. Coming to the pricing, the Zenfone Max Pro M1 with 3GB and 4GB of RAM is priced N59,600 and  N70,000 respectively.
