Endy Announces Investment from Former Blue Jay Jose Bautista
One of Canada’s fastest-growing e-commerce companies has announced a new investor—and it’s someone the city flipped out over less than three years ago.
Endy has unveiled that Jose Bautista is joining their team as an investor. Bautista formerly played on the Toronto Blue Jays and was an all-star six separate times. He was also instrumental in leading the team to their first playoff berth in more than 20 years, and his infamous “bat flip” ignited the city of Toronto. Though he is not playing in Toronto anymore, he will be a legend in the city for years to come.
Bautista decided to invest in the Toronto-based Endy after falling in love with their signature mattress-in-a-box. He wanted to get involved with the company he learned that Endy is on a mission to help all of Canada get a better nights sleep.
“Endy is an incredible Canadian success story. This is a company that continues to make a name for itself, not only for flipping an industry on its head, but for donating thousands of mattresses to those in need,” said Bautista. “As an athlete, I know how vital sleep is for overall health, and how a game-changing mattress is essential for a great night’s sleep. As an investor, I’m proud to team up with Endy, a company whose values I share: innovation, well-being, and paying it forward.”
Endy fans could even send an email to a Jose Bautista address to receive an OOO reply from the slugger himself.
“Over the past two years, I’ve become close with the Company’s founders, Rajen and Mike, and their desire to give back to the city of Toronto and the country of Canada that I had made my home for the past 10 years – I knew I had to get involved,” the email reads. “We had an amazing run together, now it’s my turn to give back to the city and country that supported me for more than a decade. I’m humbled to be a part of this journey and watch this Toronto success story grow.”
The thousands of mattresses donated Bautista mentioned refer to charity partners Endy has joined with over the past few years. In total, Endy has donated over 2,000 mattresses, amounting to well over $1.5 million worth of product. They work with organizations such as Toronto’s Furniture Bank, Ottawa’s Matthew House, and Vancouver’s Aboriginal Mother Centre Society.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jose Bautista to the Endy family,” said Rajen Ruparell, co-founder and chairman, Endy. “Jose’s passion for our products and our mission make him a perfect fit for Endy, as we continue our growth trajectory as one of Canada’s fastest growing companies.”
Endy is on-pace to surpass $50 million worth of sales in 2018 and the e-commerce company recently unveiled a brand new distribution centre for Western Canada. This is the company’s first-ever investment from an outside party—late last year the company picked up a $1 million investment during a Dragons’ Den pitch, but that deal has not yet closed.
